The Bhils was an original tribe living in the Western Ghats.
The establishment of East India Company had
created trouble among the Bhil tribe. During
1817-19 the Bhils revolted against their new masters. It continued up 1846.
The East India Company alleged that the revolts had been
encouraged by Pesewa Baji Rao II. But the agrarian hardships and fear of the
worst under the new regime were the main cause of Bhil revolt. The heat of the
Bhil revolt spread over Satpura, Ssatmala and Ajanta areas. Chil Nayek, Hiriya
and Shiuram were notable leaders of the revolt. Though the British tried to
crush the revolt, the rebellion was temporarily contained. Its intensity could
be felt even up to 1846.

بھیل بغاوت
بھیل مغربی گھاٹ میں رہنے والا ایک قبیلہ تھا۔ ایسٹ انڈیا کمپنی کے قیام نےاس قبیلے کی مشکلیں بڑھتی گئی.19-1817ء کے دوران بھِیل قبیلے نے انگریزوں کے استحصال کے خلاف بغاوت بلند کردی.
ایسٹ انڈیا کمپنی نے ان بغاوتوں کا الزام پیسو باجی راؤ II پر لگانے کے کوشش کی. لیکن نئی حکومت کے تحت زرعی مشکلات اور بدترین نظام بھیل بغاوت کی اصل وجہ تھی۔ بھیل بغاوت کی شدت ست پورہ ، ستمالا اور اجنتا کے علاقوں میں پھیل ہوئی تھی. چیل نائک ، ہیریا اور شیورام بغاوت کے قابل ذکر رہنما تھے۔ اگرچہ انگریزوں نے بغاوت کو کچلنے کی کوشش کی ، لیکن یہ بغاوت عارضی طور پر موجود تھی۔ اس کی شدت 1846 تک محسوس کی جاسکتی ہے۔
