In English Grammar, there are eight parts of speech: noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, and interjection. The part of speech indicates how the word functions in meaning as well as grammatically within the sentence.

انگریزی قواعد میں جتنے بھی الفاظ ہیں ان کو کام اور استعمال کے لحاظ سے آٹھ حصوں میں تقسیم کیا گیا ہے. ہر ایک حصوں کو اجزاۓ کلام کہتے ہیں.

اسم Noun

A noun is a word used for a person, place, thing, creature or idea.

لفظ جس سے کسی شخش، جگہ، مذھب، مخلوق، چیز وغیرہ کا نام سمجھا جاۓ اسے ہم اسم (Noun) کہتے ہیں.

Ali شخش کا نام

Tiger مخلوق کا نام

India جگہ کا نام

Islam مذہب کا نام

Chair چیز کا نام

ضمیر Pronoun

A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun. A pro noun is usually substituted for a specific noun, which is called its antecedent.

وہ لفظ جو کسی اسم (Noun) کے بدلے میں استعمال کیا جاۓ.

جیسے : I, Me, Mine, He, She

: it, is, her, its, you, your, yours, we, us

: our, them, they, their, what

: which, this, these, those

Amir is a scientist

He lives in Kolkata

Himalaya is a mountain in India

It is the largest mountain range in India

اوپر کے پہلے جملے میں Amir ایک Noun ہے. دوسرے جملے میں Amir کیلے He کا استعمال کیا گیا ہے. He ایک pronoun ہے.

تیسرے جملے میں Himalaya ایک Noun ہے. چوتھے جملے میں Himalaya کیلے It کا استعمال کیا گیا ہے. It ایک Pronoun ہے.

صفت Adjective

An adjective is a word used to modify or describe a noun or a pronoun. It usually answers the question of which one, what kind, or how many.

وہ لفظ جو کسی Noun یا Pronoun کی خصوصیات یا صفت بیان کرے اسے Adjective کہتے ہیں.

جیسے:- Young, Cold, Hot, blind, fat, old

Aman is young
امن جوان ہے.

He is fat
وہ موٹا ہے.

She is a blind woman
وہ ایک اندھی عورت ہے.

اوپر کے جملوں میں young, fat, blind کو Adjective کہتے ہیں کیونکہ ان سے کسی Noun یا Pronoun کی صفت کا عالم ہوتا ہے.

فعل Verb

The verb in a sentence expresses action or being.

وہ لفظ جسے کسی کام کا ہونا یا کرنا سمجھا جاۓ اسے Verb کہتے ہیں.

جیسے: , will, is, was, are, were has, have, had, am

She is a girl
وہ ایک لڑکی ہے.

Mohan was in Delhi
موہن دلی میں تھا.

Akbar will play
اکبر کھیلے گا.

اوپر کے جملوں میں is, was, will کو Verb کہتے ہیں. کیونکہ ان سے کسی کام کا ہونا یا کرنے کا پتہ چلتا ہے.

متعلق فعل Adverb

An adverb describes or modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb, but never a noun. It usually answers the questions of when, where, how, why, under what conditions, or to what degree.

وہ لفظ جو کسی Verb, Adjective کی صفت بڑائی، مقدار، تعداد، یا دوسری کیفیت ظاہر کرے اسے Adverb کہتے ہیں.

جیسے: Fast, easy, slow, very

Arman reads daily
ارمان روزانہ پڑھتا ہے.

Jamil runs fast
جمیل تیز دوڑتا ہے.

She eats slowly
وہ آہستہ کھانا ہے.

اوپر کے جملوں میں کوdaily, fast, slowly کو ہم Adverb کہتے ہیں. کیونکہ یہ Verb یا Adjective کی صفت کو بیان کرتا ہے.

حرف رابطہ Preposition

A preposition is a word placed before a noun or pronoun to form a phrase modifying another word in the sentence.

وہ لفظ جو کسی Noun یا Pronoun کے پہلے آے اور اس تعلق جملہ کے دوسرے الفاظ کے ساتھ ظاہر ہو تو اسے Preposition کہتے ہیں.

جیسے:- in, on, at, upon, over, with, to, into

Akbar goes to school
اکبر اسکول جاتا جے.

He lives in kolkata
وہ کلکتہ میں رہتا ہے.
